Patterns of growth and energy, movement, sound and rhythm in Nature are the sources of my work; wanting to share the excitement of that with others, is my reason for making.
My subjects often seem varied, but the inspiration is always the same. The subject suggests the materials, and I express that through videos, photography, digital design, painting, drawing or printmaking.
Working this way encourages new developments, often a little beyond my understanding. Taking gambles and leaving space for chance happenings, is essential to keep the life in my work. Generally I don't do preparatory drawings, unless, they are working drawings, for developing a subject (for example the Stones work). I take copious photographs for reference.
